Regenerative medicine - regenerative treatment of femoral head necrosis

Currently, there are about 5 to 7 million patients with necrosis of the femoral head in need of treatment in my country, and there are 200,000 new cases every year. Necrosis of the femoral head is a clinically intractable disease at home and abroad. The key to treatment is to restore the blood supply to the femoral head.

Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells combined with thrombolytics, vasodilators and bone growth drugs directly act on the femoral head to nourish blood vessels, so that the Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells are deposited in the terminal nourishing artery of the femoral head, play the role of osteogenesis and angiogenesis, and improve the blood supply of the femoral head. Angiography after treatment showed that the arteries in the blood supply area of the femoral head increased and thickened, the blood flow speed was accelerated, and the blood supply after treatment increased by 20%-110%.

Extracorporeal shock wave therapy can affect the differentiation of bone marrow stromal cells into osteoprogenitor cells, and can increase the expression of some growth factors. Extracorporeal shock waves can increase angiogenesis and VEGF expression and are effective in the treatment of femoral head necrosis.
